What’s The Importance Of That Check Engine Light?

Your Magnaflow exhaust package comes with three pieces–a resonator, center pipe, and muffler section. The front resonator comes with a mounting flange that bolts right onto your stock catalytic converter. This part connects to a center pipe that is secured with exhaust clamps, which are supplied. And the rear muffler section joins together, exiting the car in the center of the rear bumper. Also, all the parts are stainless steel, which don’t rust or stain–nice job Magnaflow.

These cars were far safer and security was even then, a main concern. The first car produced the Volvo company was the P1800, which rose to fame with Roger Moore. By 1964, the Volvo Company was pretty much booming. They had set up a company in Sweden that was capable of producing 200,000 cars a year. In 1966, the Volvo 140 family came into the market and the company hoped to secure their position with them. There were both saloon and estate models of these released, hoping to catch different people in the market.

RPM – Revolutions Per Minute. How many times is the engine spinning (performing a revolution) per minute. With the press of the accelerator, the RPM increases. Different cars are able to perform and a higher RPM than others – sports cars for example.

Damper – Aids shock absorption. The damper controls the springs, creating a smooth/soft return to normal position after a bump. Bad damping can significantly impact ride comfort.

The Supra TT with the 6-speed has a stock engine redline of 6800rpm, and a 6th gear ratio of .79:1, with a rear axle ratio of 3.13:1. Now we multiply our 6th gear ratio times our rear axle ratio, and we find out our final gear ratio is 2.472:1. Now we divide 6800rpm by our total gear reduction of 2.472:1 and we find out our rear axles, and therefore wheels are spinning at 2751rpm at 6800 engine rpms.

There are many other components and systems that suffer wear and tear, and eventually need to be repaired or replaced. For example, your car’s engine should operate smoothly for over 100,000 miles, but that will depend on your driving habits and diligence in changing the oil. Your catalytic converter recyclers should last over 150,000 miles, but a rich fuel blend in the engine can shorten its life.

Your brake pads have a consumable surface called the lining. This surface presses against the rotors when you engage your brakes to bring your vehicle to a stop. Even though it is heat-resistant and resilient, the surface wears away with use. When the lining becomes worn, it exposes a small metal piece that rubs against the rotors. This creates a squeal that indicates the brake pads need to be replaced.

There are professional car inspectors. You will find them locally in your yellow pages. You could hire one of them for around $100 dollars per car and watch him inspect a car or two.
