Relatives have asked you to become a Trustee for their Living Trust. Perhaps flattered by their belief in your honesty, or because of ignorance, you accept. Notary – In order to be fully legal all contracts for completion of a sale have to be signed in the presence of a Notary. Costs to the Notary will be about 0.3% of the purchase price.
But, if this all seems too hard there is a lot to be said for telling her that you are leaving your money to your son in the usual way and then proceeding to spend it frivolously.
