Inspiration When A Second Is A First

For the advanced student in inspiration, try going beyond being a consumer of the arts to becoming a producer. Can you write a book, or even a couple of short stories? Can you write a song? Can you make a new recording of one of your favorite songs, with yourself on lead vocal? Can you create an inspiring painting? Can you get cast in a play, or even make a movie?

Every time you complain about ‘the rich’ or ‘the big guys’ you’re telling your subconscious you’re not part of those groups and don’t want to be – gee, think that might hold you back a tad? If you’re always dwelling on your bills and poor financial status you’re undermining your own self-image – an important aspect of your motivational capacity. If you’re daunted by huge projects that are looming on your horizon or by to-do lists that seem to go on forever, take a look at the NLP technique of ‘chunking’ and get over it.

My initial motivation to fitness was my wife Kelly. Her journey to fitness has inspired me and I am motivated to share her story with others. She also has motivated me to strive to be a better person, physically, mentally and spiritually. Motivation is a positive energy and as it feeds it gets bigger and stronger.

My lifelong mission has been to inspire people… myself, as well as others. That’s why I’ve been drawn to pursuits in the arts – I’ve been a singer, an actor, and a writer throughout my life, whatever else I may have been doing for money. And I’ve been fortunate enough to make a fair amount of my living from my creative endeavors, too. This experience has taught me something about inspiration, the forces that work against it, and what it takes to kindle (and rekindle) your passion for work and life.

Self-discipline is not a part of motivation. If you take all the motivation in the world but fail to exercise self-discipline and put action behind it you will fail. Failing is OK if you learn from your failures and change the things that made you fail in the first place. But if your failure if due to a lack of action then it’s not really failure it simply a lack of action. Self-discipline requires you to actually go forward with your goals. Take regular small steps towards your final achievement destination. Motivation by itself won’t get you there. The only thing that will make your dreams come true is action.

However, don’t let your problems stop or hold you back. At the same time, don’t sweep your problems under the carpet. The key is to solve them without losing sight of your goals. Hence, the tools today will be great to help you smoothen the journey.
