Antique Gold Coins Can Be A Great Buy

A home or business burglary can be devastating. Not only may you loose some of your most important belongs, but you can feel vulnerable. An easy way to find peace of mind and prevent theft is to keep a wall safe in your home or office.

I would not recommend storing vital documents such as your will, birth certificate, etc. in the Memory Box. Those items should either be stored in a Safe deposit box for sale at the bank, or at home in a fire resistant box (remember, there is no such thing as a fireproof box for the home!). Some people store their vital documents in a regular file folder in their filing cabinet, and keep copies (or the originals) in a separate location. In the event that an emergency causes a very quick evacuation, the people and pets go out first, followed by the vital documents, and then the Memory Boxes.

ETF’s are liquid. You can buy and sell them in seconds inside any stock brokerage account. But they have some drawbacks. Biggest is taxes. Unlike a regular ETF, precious metals ETFs are treated differently by the IRS, and you will have to pay income taxes each year whether you sell them or not. Additionally, they are treated as regular income, not capital gains, so you pay a much higher rate. Before you buy any ETF’s, speak with a tax advisor to determine which rules affect you and whether they have been changed since I last checked them.

This is a very specialized area. People who are serious about coins live and breathe them. There is no logic, it is completely about special cases. One year can be worth 1000 times another one, and the only way to know is to know. Catalog prices are at best a general guide, but not very useful. Unless you want to become serious about this market and learning about it (10-20 hours a week for a year might get you started, for 20 years is better), my advice is to stay away as an investment.

Other recommended safe deposit facilities in Austria are at the Schoellerbank branches (where no key is required – access is regulated by an electronic fingerprint scan) and at the Raiffeisenbank in the ‘secret’ enclave of Jungholz.

If an item is much too large to fit into the Memory Box, and you can bear to part with it, take a photo of the item, and store the photo with a description of the item in the box. This works well for items that you are merely keeping out of obligation. For example, that hideous painting your aunt made for you that you will never hang up! Take a photo, write a note saying, “Aunt Gertrude meant well” and donate the painting to someone who will appreciate its unrecognized beauty.

To sum up, having this type of safe at home is considered getting an extra layer of protection for your valuables as it helps to prevent fire, flood, thefts and burglaries. You just need to invest on one safe and you can safeguard all your important items from the unfortunate events. You don’t need to incur additional cost to get other home security system. Isn’t it cost effective?
